WFAA Talent Showcase: Scholarship Awards and Peformances on stage Woodstock Opera House

On April 26, 10 scholarship recipients will perform on the Woodstock Opera House stage at the annual WFAA Talent Showcase. Free to the public, this highly-popular annual event requires no reservations or tickets. Doors open for seating at 5 p.m. with the Talent Showcase beginning at 5:30 p.m. A reception immediately follows the performance in the opera house community room.
Recipients of the 2018 Woodstock Fine Arts Association Scholarship award are:

Rachel Schmidt (Flute) Crystal Lake Central High School
Emily Hoffman (Songwriting/Performance) Marengo High School
Kobi Langanis (Ballet) Cary-Grove High School
Ben Johnson (Piano) Johnsburg High School
Mariana Kostova (Creative Writing) Woodstock High School
Andrew (AJ) James Weber (Voice) Prairie Ridge High School
Emma Soden (Voice) Crystal Lake Central High School
Mateo Herrera (Visual Art/Photography) Crystal Lake Central High School
Jade Woo (Violin) McHenry West High School
Each scholarship recipient receives a $1,000 award to continue education and dedication to the arts.
These awards, established in honor of past WFAA board member Helen Wright, have been granted to high school seniors in McHenry County who have recognized abilities in the performing, literary and visual arts. In the past 10 years, more than $87,000 in scholarship awards have been given.
Woodstock Fine Arts Association is a not-for-profit 501 (c)(3), volunteer-run organization devoted to promoting the arts in McHenry County and preserving the Woodstock Opera House. Since 1961, this group has worked to produce vibrant arts programming for all ages, from school children to adults as well as scholarships to area high school students. The WFAA focuses on four primary programs: Creative Living Series, Children’s Program, Scholarship, and Talent Showcase. The WFAA season’s only fundraising event is the annual Spring Luncheon Fundraiser for the Arts set for Friday, May 4
